MIDWAY ELEMENTARY

Midway Elementary has roots in the community dating back to 1907, when local residents constructed a one-room schoolhouse. The original schoolhouse closed in 1938 and the present school was built and opened in 1958. The school was designed by eminent architect John Portman and received international recognition. An appropriately designed wing was added to Midway in 1998. Another key change came in 1998 when Midway Elementary became DeKalb County's first primary school. Another excellent change took place in 2000, when Midway School began to offer Montessori classes. There are now two primary and three elementary and one elementary II Montessori classes offered.
