POLICIES, RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ATHLETES

Certain training and disciplinary rules and regulations are necessary for the success of the football program at Avondale High School. The following rules have been adopted and approved by the COACHING STAFF. Athletes and their parents/guardians are required to sign an agreement stating that they both understand and will abide by these rules.

Download the Policies, Rules and Regulations agreement. Print and complete this document and bring it to the coaching staff before your first practice. Students who do not have this agreement on file will not be allowed to participate in any athletic activities. (format and upload the document and set up the download link)

These rules are in effect for all Football players at Avondale High School.

Disciplinary action will involve all necessary parties. Some infractions only require the coach and the player, while others may involve the administration at Avondale High School. All athletes will adhere to all rules in the Dekalb County Student Handbook, the Avondale High School Student Handbook, as well as the Avondale High School Drug and Alcohol form, and the Avondale Football team rules.

The following rules are emphasized and will be dealt with in accordance with Avondale High School and Dekalb County policies listed above:

1. Use of tobacco: Absolutely no use of any tobacco products at any time (in or out of season)

2. Drinking: Absolutely no drinking of alcoholic beverages (in or out of season)

3. Drug Abuse: Absolutely no taking of drugs (Without Doctor’s permission)

4. Teacher or Administrative Detention

5. I.S.S. or O.S.S: In School Suspension, Out of School suspension, administered by AHS administrators

6. A.W.O.L. – Communication between athlete and school is critical

7. Late for Practice: Communication between athlete and school is critical

8. Stealing: Theft of any kind

9. Grooming: Have appropriate clothing, equipment, and personal grooming products at all times

10. Earrings/Jewelry: No earrings allowed in the locker room, at practice, or during a game - GHSA rule
