RECLAIMING "DEATH VALLEY"
For 38 straight seasons, teams looked on their schedules and circled the games scheduled against Avondale at our home stadium... and not because they were looking forward to it.
Between 1951-1989, Coach Ramsey and Coach Kennedy's teams won 308 games, lost 94 and tied 10. Their combined winning percentage for 38 seasons was .748. There are few schools in the history of high school football that produced statistics like this.
The Blue Devils' home record at "Death Valley" was astounding during the Death Valley era. The few teams that actually won on our field staggered off, knowing that they never wanted to have to come back.
Under Coach Carson's guidance and with the community's help, the team has undertaken the task of earning the the right to bring back the name of "Death Valley" to our stadium as a part of The Return to Excellence.
